His novel Red Road
Green, is a love story set amidst the destruction
of the Amazon Forest, is published by Sparsile Books
in May 2022.
Part of the earnings will go
to Survival International to help indigenous Amazon
tribes to maintain their way of life.
He wrote Two
Owls at Eton while still at school. Published
in 1960, a month before he left, it was serialised
in the London Evening Standard and was in its top-ten
best sellers list for a fortnight.
In 2006, Country Life listed
it as one of five best nature books.
He lived in Brazil for ten years
ranching in the Amazon. He works as a volunteer
for the Rehabilitation Programme at the Warren Hill
section of the Hollesley Bay Prison complex and
recently gave a presentation about ranching in the
Amazon to an audience of Lifers with his own films
and readings from Red Road Green.

wife, the artist Annabel
